Pastor Tom Shanor
Hello . . . . My name is Pastor Tom Shanor.
My history in the West began in 1967, when I moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Then a small town of 500 people. In 1975 I met my soon to become wife, Marilee who was working with Youth For Christ. I too was also a volunteer. We met, became engaged and married all within six weeks. We soon had three children, Eliza, Megan and David, who are all now married and have given us 10 grandchildren. We spent the next fifteen years in Jackson, and continued to be very involved in our local church.
I was called into ministry with the International Foursquare Denomination, where we as a family became "new church planters." Over the course of the next 17 years, we started four churches from the ground up. Two were located in Wyoming, one in Kentucky and one in Idaho. I also served three years in a large church as a staff minister in Oregon. Our years with Foursquare were rich and fulfilling. In three of the churches we started, each of our children met their spouses. They and their spouses all Love the Lord, and are all now involved in the churches they attend today.
I also served as an interim pastor for a summer in a United Methodist Church on the Oregon Coast. I have ministered elsewhere by preaching in Independent, Episcopal and Presbyterian Churches in various locations.
Today, I am pleased to be serving as the first year-round pastor of the Little Church in the Pines in Island Park. I am simply Blessed! In December 2015, I began filling in for two pastors who traveled to Island Park every Sunday from Idaho Falls. The church Steering Committee over the next few months asked me if I would consider being the summer pastor, which eventually lead to the invitation of becoming their first year-round minister. I said, "Yes." It is a joy serving here to a congregation that is loving, caring, who serve the Lord and are like family. No . . . they are a Family.
Little Church in the Pines is inter-denominational, which suits my background perfectly. In the summer months we grow from our steady membership of 40, upwards of 130 people or more. People from all over the world. "We" . . . . are Blessed!
PLEASE, if ever you are in, or passing through Island Park, Idaho, stop and attend a service or just to say Hello. The historic building alone is worth coming in and experiencing.
God Bless You All!
