John (Jerry) Russell
January 25, 1930 - February 29, 2024 (Age 94yrs. young)
I led a life one could only dream. I graduated from Weber High School in 1948. In 1985 I retired from Hill Air Force Base as a division chief to accompany my wife, Gin, on a tour of duty overseas. While in England at age 56, I was blessed with an additional son, John Rad.
I have traveled all over the world. I was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hunter. I loved Island Park and lived life to the fullest. For many years I wrote a weekly article for this newspaper. I met so many wonderful people.
I leave behind my wife, Gin and kids: Chad (Susan), Gaylene (Dan), Brad (Vikki), Jason, Kathy (Troy), John Rad (Liz) and daughter-in-law Janice. I have 7 amazing grandkids: Megan (Sean), Emily (Brian), Shawn (Shannon), Blade, Karyssa (Chase), Gavin, and Evelyn (due April 4th) and one great grandson, Arlo.
I was preceded in death by my parents Ray and Minnie; my brother Joe and sister Dixie; my first wife Sharon, my daughter Lana, her husband Dean and their son Taylor; and my son Rand.
Additionally, I leave my foreign kids: Mara (Frank), Simona, Libor (Lenka), Sandrine (Kurt), Paul (Andrew), Marta (Ema), and Laure. You brought me much joy.
I have many friends who I will miss: Steve, Dave, Brent, Mike, Larry, Dustin, and the breakfast gang.
Thanks to Mel Bingham and staff, who were so good to me and a special thanks to Cathy and Terry Thomas.
A celebration of life TBD.
There is nothing more important in life than the memories you make and the people you love.

Genevieve "Gene" Newsome
A Life Well Lived
If Gene had a final message to her many family members and friends, that surely would be it: You are not alone. Jesus is always with you. This is from one of the many poems Gene authored during her life:
"For as life goes swiftly by
And closer, closer heaven's door,
With joy I'm looking forward
To what's on the other shore.
"No more talking of the good old days,
There, better up above.
I just keep looking upward
To my Jesus with love."
